Milesight LoraWan Gateway UG56-868M - Ethernet - POE -Wi-Fi - External antenna
The Milesight UG56 supports various options to forward LoRaWAN® data to a server or cloud platform.
Depending on the installation, the following can be used:
- Ethernet
- mobile connection via 4G
- Wi-Fi
This allows the gateway to be used in locations with a fixed network connection as well as in remote installations where only mobile connectivity is available.
Compatible with various LoRaWAN® Network Servers
Milesight LoRaWAN® gateways are compatible with various commonly used LoRaWAN Network Servers (LNS).

Built-in LoRaWAN® Network Server
The UG56 also features a built-in LoRaWAN Network Server.

This makes the gateway particularly interesting for local IoT installations and applications where data needs to be processed or forwarded locally.
Firmware updates remotely via FUOTA
The built-in Network Server of the UG56 supports Firmware Update Over-The-Air (FUOTA).
This allows compatible LoRa® and LoRaWAN® devices to be remotely provided with new firmware after installation via the LoRaWAN® network.
Technicians do not need to physically visit each device individually for firmware updates.
This can significantly reduce maintenance costs, especially in large installations with hundreds or thousands of IoT devices.
BACnet over LoRaWAN® for building management
The Milesight UG56 can be used to integrate LoRaWAN® devices with Building Management Systems (BMS).
Thanks to support for BACnet, data from wireless LoRaWAN® sensors can be made available within existing building management systems.
LoRaWAN® acts as a wireless communication channel to the existing BACnet infrastructure.
This allows wireless sensor technology to be added without replacing the entire existing building management system.
This is particularly interesting for:

Administrators can configure devices remotely and adjust settings without having physical access to every gateway.
This is particularly interesting when large numbers of gateways are spread across multiple buildings or locations.
Automatic configuration with RPS
The UG56 supports RPS – Redirection and Provisioning Service.
This allows gateways to be automatically configured as soon as they are first connected to the network.
After startup, the device connects to the provisioning service and pre-set configurations are automatically applied.
This simplifies large-scale deployments where dozens or hundreds of gateways need to be rolled out.
Plug-and-play configuration and remote management
Through the Milesight Development Platform, devices can be easily added, configured, and managed.
Pre-set configuration templates can automatically be applied when a device is first activated.
Additionally, data can be forwarded to external applications via:
- APIs
- webhooks
- IoT platforms
- own applications
This allows the UG56 to be easily integrated into existing IoT architectures.
Node-RED integration
The Milesight UG56 is compatible with Node-RED.
Node-RED enables a visual way to connect various devices, APIs, data sources, and online services with each other.
This allows, for example, to automatically:
- LoRaWAN® data to be processed
- alarms to be generated
- data to be sent to external systems
- automations to be executed
- sensor data to be converted or filtered
- external APIs to be controlled
